Print Twenty Point Programme

The Twenty Point Programme was initially launched in 1975 and was subsequently restructured in 1982 and again in 1986 With the introduction of LPG (Liberalization, Privatization & Globalization). It was again restructured in 2006 making the schemes in harmony with the priorities contained in the National Common Minimum Programme (NCMP) vis-a-vis Millennium Developments Goals (MDGs).

The basic objective of the Twenty Point Programme is to eradicate poverty and to improve the quality of life especially of the poor and the under privileged population of the country. The Twenty Point Programme covered various social economic aspects like poverty, employment, education, health, drinking water, food security, agriculture productivity, environment conservation, empowerment of women and other weaker sections etc. The Twenty Points of this Programme and its 66 sub items have been designed to achieve the above objectives.

Under the programme the main focus is on the regular and effective monitoring from field to national level to ensure the desired results. In the state of Uttarakhand Twenty Point Programme 2006 is being monitored by a dedicated Twenty Point Programme implementation wing of DES under the overall direction and supervision of the Deputy Chairman, State level Twenty Point Programme Committee and the Chief Minister as ex-officio chairman of the committee.
